Does anyone know why the Radeon 9800XT cards are still so expensive? Everywhere I look, the 9800XT is only marginally cheaper than the X800 Pro. Is there any relief in sight for the near future?

Comparison article for you:

http://www.gamers-depot.com/hardware/vi ... 0p/001.htm

From the article:
" Their new XTasy X800 Pro brings a 12-pipe solution to the more mainstream gamer by offering best-of-class performance in a price that’s below the 400-dollar mark. Certainly it’ll still out-price itself to some consumers, however, we feel it still offers some of the best performance for the dollar anywhere – the former 9800XT and 5950 Ultra simply get waxed by the X800 Pro. 9800XT cards are still selling for around $370.00 on Pricewatch and just over 400 dollars for the Pro – to us the decision should be a no-brainer. "

The article is about a month old, so take some of the things you see with a grain of salt.

The 9800XT pro is still a helluva card, though. ;]

imo, it is still reasonable as long as it stays cheaper than the Geforce 6800 non-ultra.
