yeah i just recently got a msi k8n neo motherboard and a amd athlon 64 3400+ proc... its been running fine with my 120gb WD SE... but i recently tried to instal a 74gb 10k SATA raptor and everytime i install the operating system and try to boot, it says that there was a error while loading the operating system, and ive tried 2 different xp discs thinking it may be the cd-rom, but its not... so does anyone know what may be the problem

Did you remove your old 120GB HD or added the SATA raptor along with it? If you added it, check your jumpers and boot sequence in the BIOS.

EDIT: Actually do it for both.

So you fully installed winxp on the sata drive? or it doesn't let you install xp either? You did format and partitioin the new drive right? I'm not sure what else it could be... sorry

it installed and everything, cause when i boot from my normal pata drive i can still access the SATA drive, and i see all the windows files on there, but for some reason it just wont boot the drive, it keeps telling me there was a error, could it be a 32-bit and 64-bit incompatibility?

Check to see if there are any BIOS updates for your motherboard..maybe MSI has released a more stable/compatible BIOS revision for your board which might address the SATA boot problem.

Also, if you have your PC overclocked, try backing down to default speeds and booting.

Wish I could help ya more, but I'm still on a PATA drive until my SATA comes in, so no much personal experience with them.
