what is memory ratio? Is 1:1 the best?

Im using cpu Z and it shows me that my memory is 3:4, is that good or bad?

im using p4 2.4 B with 1 512 400 mhz memory, 2 256 266 mhz memory, single channel ram. It says the frequency is at 178.2 in cpu z

thanks

1:1 is better.

Your 266 RAM is slowing your system down.

You may not be able to adjust it anyway. You'll have to look in your BIOS. I'd be more worried about trying to find a dual-channel board and some Dual Channel memory.

Try Newegg

It's a lot cheaper than any retail store ;)

And you can't do better on shipping than free!
Plus, no taxes! Unless, you live in one of Newegg's states.

Oh, by the way, in case you didn't notice, that's Mushkin Enhanced I linked to. It's a bit better than Mushkin Basic that you mentioned. ;)

I believe the way it works is that they have to be the same capacity, which both will be 512, and they both have to operate at the same frequencey, which both will opperate at DDR 400. The only other hitch is that sometimes different brands conflict, but these will both be Mushkin. The only differnece between the two chips is that one is Basic and one is Advanced.

I don't think that will cause any problems, but if it does, Newegg is a great store to work with when it comes to that type of problem. I'm sure you'll get all your money back if it doesn't work.

Truthfully, you should have gotten Enhanced to begin with. Basic is known for causing difficulties in things like overclocking, and it might not be as brand friendly as the enhanced. I've heard of people that just plain couldn't overclock because their Mushkin Basic was causing problems.

Oh yeah, and be sure to take out that DDR 266 when you get it.

I'm sure someone on eBay would be more than happy to buy it form you. DDR 266 is getting rarer every day, so the prices are going up.

Have you seen what a local computer shop will sell a 64mb chip of EDO for? It's freaking crazy!
