Reading the reviews at Newegg I see that HEAT seems to be a major issue with the ATI Radeon 9800Pro card.

Has anyone else that owns this card experienced this and what did you do to solve this problem if you did? Buy another heat sink? If so, which one is the best for this card?

Here is where I was reading the reviews:

I've never had a heat-related issue from running mine. Don't unneccessarily stress over it, as I can't seem to recall many (if any) complaints of heat popping up w/ this card at the old forums.

I'm sure others will chime in w/ 3rd party cooling experiences though (which is what you're looking for) 8)

HI there

I've owned a couple of 9800 pro's now and I've also read that some heat issues can be caused by different combinations of video card and mobo's. I had a Gigabyte 9800 pro and it ran very hot in my IC7 Max3. Now I'm using a Sapire 9800 pro and it's considerably cooler. It's water-cooled now, but it was totally fine when it wasn't.

As for the dealing with the heat. I didn't change the fan but I did take off the heat sink and put some AS5 on the core and that helped out quite a bit. One thing I would definitely (note that it is spelled correctly) recommend is the "Arctic Cooling" VGA Silencer. It's cheap and does a really great job.

i have 9800pro built by ATi and never had any issues with heat (front 120mm, back 120mm in my system)

i have a little thermal sensor shoved in between the heatsink and PCB, and it usually reads about 43C
