No FX-53? or PC Power and Cooling PSU? or 74g raptors? or 400g storage drives? or PC4400 RAM? or x800 XT Platinum (or 6800 Ultra)? or dual layer DVD burner? or MX710 version mouse? What about monitor and speakers?

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go w/ Jipstyle on this one

Nice system Healy, but you arleady know that. If that's your first "built from scratch" rig, then congrats and welcome to world of DIY building!

"Thermaltake Modern Life Style XaserV Damier V5000A Full Tower Case"- name is too long and marketable. 5 point deduction right off the bat.

While you have a 939 based chip(+1 point) you lose 3 points on have a non-FX

9800Pro??? come on! You expect points for that? -2 just for bothering to list it.

"plextor dvd burner " - Since you didn't say DL, I will assume the worst and deduct 2 points

"cas2.5" - What? for PC3200? -2 points, because cas2 should be had at this speed rating. I think I'm being lenient on this no=no.

I'm stopping there because its "pointless" for me to go on any further.

This brings us to my total rating of -3 points.

Come on man just come out and brag like the rest of us ;)

Well son it's like this. If I ran a crew (and I do) I'd let ya in the club with a computer like that. Could be it be better? Of course it could. That would mean a Dual Layer LiteOn burner, an X800 PT, 2Gigs of RAM, 3 72GB Raptors (1 for system and 2 for RAID0 storage), etc etc.

Having said that, you can sleep well at night knowing you have a comp that can hang with the big dogs. 8)

But not hang with the Pit Bulls.

No, just shooting for above PAR. Good system, and very nice for a first build. With Raptors, you lack on actual capacity so having 4 74G raptors brings you up to an average capacity with some very kickass speeds. That's why they're possibly saying more drives.

I agree though. Do you NEED 2G memory? No, not at all, unless you actually use your PC for something more than playing a game or two. So, as far as a gaming console is, it's good. But if you want a PC that actually works it's ass of, then 2G is the standard IMO. (One of my games, Lock-On, loves to run with 1G ram and dips into the VM a time or two. I need more!)

Very nice system. I see others have told you where you could've upgraded more, but for your first system that you built it is not bad at all.

I definitely (note that it is spelled correctly) would've went with the FX though.

Very nice system you have and you should be proud of it! :)

:-)

The new 939's are closing the gap on the FX's and are starting to make the price difference almost pointless.

It was all in fun man. That post wasn't serious in the least bit. I'm just sure that you know its a kick ass setup(better than mine). I was just ribbing you a bit and pointing you to the Specs thread :)

I know that. If I said that, then my post wouldn't be as amusing :P
