Ok this is not specific to either manfucaturer but to their latest habit of producing integrated systems for the chips instead of letting motherboards be the provider of this. i know AMD has a pairing system for those using discrete cards but Intels HD graphics don't sound like it and since I donno if it will default to the chip one or discrete one or if you can switch it off i avoid these processors right now until I get more information. [it was another of the list of reasons my current build does not use haswell] Any more information on these types of processors is welcomed as i suspect my next system will have to deal with it.

So here's the thing...

All consumer Intel chips since Sandy Bridge include some flavor of Intel HD Graphics. None of the Xeon chips have it and Sandy Bridge E chips don't either. So if you were avoiding Haswell because of this, then you're not looking in the right direction.

And all these motherboards have the option to turn the HD Graphics off. But either way, when the system boots up, it will show up on the first display that's connected to the system. So even if you have a discrete card in the system, brand new, the system will display out to that if a monitor is plugged into it and only it.

Well I knew they had those optioned in for chips and we always had motherboard integrated ones. Also I said it was on the list of reasons i chose not to go haswell. Not the sole reason.
