is there an easy way to get the audio track off of a dvd so that I can record to cd for audio only playback
I have dvd copies of sermons and speeches that I want to get audio from

As long as you are not violating any copyrights, it can be done with FREE software.
Someone may post with a quicker solution so you may want to consider those if posted.
First, record your DVD to your computer with VLC
. It is advertised as a ‘player’ but with a short learning curve it is also a recorder. It will do an analog recording of your DVD… like recording a TV show on VHS.
Second, it will record in .mpeg format. You will then need to download and install a ‘file conversion utility’ (if you don’t already have one). I recommend Format Factory
. Use that to strip the video from the .mpeg file and convert it to .mp3.
Third, once that is done, you’ll have a .mp3 file that you can burn to a CD.
