What is Nvidia's equivalent to AMD HD7970? And what would give me the best performance? Does the overclocked versions really give better performance or is the bump so small it doesn't even matter? Would running 2 HD7870s be better than 1 HD7979? I use a 37" LG tv for a monitor and I play all kinds of games from FPS to RTS. What card has smoother framerates? Thanks for the help.

Whoa, shotgun of questions.

NVIDIA's equivalent to the 7970 is the GTX 680. As far as price/performance goes, the 7970 kicks ass hands down for being a $400 part. As for running two 7870s in CF, it's probably better (the 7870 trails the 7970 by about 20% or so), but you also need a beefier PSU to handle it.

Ok , so would 2 GTX660s perform just as well as 2 HD7870s or would the GTX660s beat up the HD7870s? I know years back the overclocked video cards preformed way better than stock but nowadays with the current gpus does the overclocked versions get the same gains or is better to get stock cards and not waste the money on overclocked versions?

Chance are they would perform the same.

And I don't think overclocking video cards these days garners significant performance improves. It's enough to add a few brownie points to your e-peen but that's about it.
