Welcome to the forums! Ahhh the glory days of XP humming along on a Pentium 4 box! You're taking me back to the Wonder Years!

Okay, you don't mention your budget but I expect it is as little as possible. You also don't divulge the size you seek. 23'-24" is the real sweet spot nowadays in terms of 1080p pop, screen candy and price. I suspect the dying CRT is what a 17", or 19" at most? The only thing to be aware of is validating the new panel has a VGA port and cable. This 1920x1080 Asus panel would blow Gramps away and only make tiny wallet dent of $130 after rebate. But make sure to also pick up a DVI to VGA adapter because I just ignored my own advice.
