Maximum PC

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum--maybe it should be under "Windows"--but here goes:

Large touchscreens are very expensive, and at least for me, a large monitor is not that convenient to use with touch because of the distances involved. I was thinking about getting a small touchscreen to pair with my larger HD monito and place the touchscreen convenient to my hands. I would then use the larger monitor to view most apps (and games) on. Has anyone done this or considered this? Do you think (or know) if it will work?

I think an even better solution is to buy a touch-pad or perhaps a stylus pad for that purpose.

There's a growing selection of them, most of which now offer multi-touch capabilities. Stylus pads have long been used by graphics artists, and they're getting more advanced all the time. Wacom is the brand that comes to my mind with stylus tablets.


There's also some DIY hacks that can be done using spare parts from laptops, or similar methods. I've also seen touch-capable smart phones used to drive a PC remotely, though I can't vouch for it's speed or accuracy.

It's not quite the same, but you can a touchpad for desktops these days. They're kind of expensive though, going for around $70

yes latiox this is true. i am using this but i got in $80 at a online store.

Thanks for the comments! I am familiar with touchpads and have used them in the past, and they are very useful.

Maybe I should ask the question a different way: I have a graphics card which supports multiple monitors. If I have three monitors, is it possible for one of the three to be have touch capabilities? If so, could I use that screen to start and otherwise control programs that would appear on the standard screens?

To my mind, it would simply be a touchpad with a screen (like some of the touch-capable handheld video games) controlling larger standard monitors.

I can think of all sorts of reasons why this wouldn't work very well, because Windows 8 is designed for a single-screen tablet, but it would be very cool if I'm wrong.
