Hi all, I want to upgrade my Nvidia 460ti to the fastest but quiet video card available. I play video games as well as mid level video editing so I want to stay with Nvidia because of Cuda, so if anyone has any expert advice on a recommendation I would appreciate any help.

TIA

Define quiet, because I have a GTX 560 Ti stock and when it's blasting I don't notice a thing (although having a grill over the expansion slots might have something to do with it).

If I were to guess, something like this three slot beast should be quiet enough. Otherwise you'd have to buy some aftermarket cooling system.

Quiet to me is barely audible at full load. I will be upgrading my case to a more quiet case also because I want to build a silent PC for my office. That card is a beast, what brand is your 560.

Thanks for the response.

I guess I broke my own rule. I barely notice my setup because the air has to go through a grill and my desk and it has to beat my speakers. And if there's nothing playing on my computer, then that's the only time I can hear it.

The brand is EVGA, but the 560 Ti uses the reference cooler, which is something you shouldn't use if you're looking for quiet.

Gigabyte is pretty much your destination for fast AND quiet: GIGABYTE GV-N66TOC-2GD GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB That's the same card Anandtech benched when the 660ti's first came out. At that time it was the best overclocker & quietest under load. Of course now there are triple fan options that drop noise a little more. If I were in the market for a new GPU right now, that's the one I'd get, & I also do a lot of gaming (1920x1200) & 1080p video editing.

Thanks for the great advice I will have to compare each card and see which one works out. It seems cards are quieter now which is defiantly a good thing for me.

Thanks again!
