I have two WD 500GB RE4's in software RAID 0. My motherboard is an Asus M5A99X EVO with a Phenom II 955 BE and 8GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600 running at 1333MHz.

I was wondering if these are acceptable results when running HD Tune on the array.

HD Tune: AMD 2+0 Stripe/RAID0 Benchmark

Transfer Rate Minimum : 16.3 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Maximum : 260.9 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 165.2 MB/sec
Access Time : 13.2 ms
Burst Rate : 138.4 MB/sec
CPU Usage : -1.0%

It bothers me that it drops down to really low transfer rates several times. Is this normal? On my other motherboard with the same drives it dropped down to 10MB or less several times.

The average transfer rate is good, being at or more than a single drive would be. The maximum rate is impressive too.

Anyway, opinions would be welcome.

Thanks!
