 Post subject: WD HDD problem with recovery

Hello, first of all i want say, my english is very bad so i use translate many times.. i hope you understand


I have an external WD hdd 320gb, i think was MyBook essential, before i open the case.. i remove it from the case and i have connect it with IDE cable in my mobo. the inside drive its WD caviar 320gb
BIOS see the drive with his factory name.(im in work now, when i go to house i'll write full name)
same for device manager
but in "my computer" i cant see the drive..
I have try to recovery my data with many many programs..

Easyrecovery professional
Partition Magic 8
Active File Recovery
NTFS Recovery
Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery
and the diagnostic tool from WD

some programs cant start the scan and recovery, and some others need some thousands of years to complete it..
i have despair so i need your help..

the data is important but no money for professionals so i have try a lot before give up!

OK, the bios sees the drive.

Have you looked in Disk Management for the drive and is it healthy, poor or not there at all?

Did the WD software find the drive?

Did you try the WD Diagnostic software to check the drive? It is an ISO file that you use to burn a bootable cd with the program on it to check the drive. The program automatically opens to check the drive. Choose the short check first, then the long check.

If you go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management, does it show up there?

You could also try TestDisk
