PCper! Love watching their podcasts. Hellstrom is evil...he makes me drink during the show. Have to join us on Wednesdays at 7PM PST. 25th will be the last show on TWiT then it moves to PCper/live. Anyway...
Please skip any "Extreme" CPU as it's just a general waste of money. They are 1st drawn devices that pimp the following line and you just pay dearly for them to have "extreme" creds. I use to run extremes until I realized I could make much cheaper CPU's run just as well. The 3750K ($230) is a brilliant CPU, but it's still too close to the 2600K to call it a win. And the move to crappy thermal paste instead of the pretty perfect silver under the IHS has it just running warmer than should be.
You'd also have to dig pretty hard to find a problem with a z77 board with a 3770K ($340) shoved in it. Socket 2011 has no legs and didn't even the day of it's release. As stated earlier, it's a showcase product to aid marketing. 1155 is still strong for the next year until Haswell and socket 1150 releases, and Broadwell's MCP build (chipset comes on-chip) leaves Haswell boards unusable...but no socket 2011 unless you're running a server with a couple Xeons in it. If you didn't adopt 2011 on day one, I'd stay way.
Speaking of which; If you have some cash to blow and have an ultra rig, SMP it.
