I am generally familiar with the Gigabyte mobo codes. But this new mobo has me a bit stumped and have not been able to Google myself a proper answer.

New Z77 mobos announced and the codes are

IntelĀ® Z77 Express Chipset GA-Z77X-UP7 GA-Z77X-UP5 TH GA-Z77X-UP4 TH

Link for full details http://www.gigabyte.us/press-center/news-page.aspx?nid=1134

I am familiar with UD but not UP

Anyone know the difference? I am planning on buying one of these boards so this is important for me. lol

UPDATE ************
Got an answer from an AnandTech article just now by luck
"The UP4 features Gigabyte's new power delivery system, which promises much cooler VRM temps thanks to some interesting IP from International Rectifer and 60A per phase. A demonstration of these VRMs showed that surface temperatures under load reduced from the high 90s (Celsius) to the mid 60s in a very low airflow environment. The purpose of this power delivery is to help system builders utilise minimal airflow in overclocked systems, such as those using all-in-one cooling. Systems using this technology will use the 'UP' naming system rather than the 'UD' that Gigabyte has been using recently."

Use Newegg, chalk them all up on on the compare list, and have a look. I Hate to simplify it, but that's about as easy as it gets. Look at a UD5 and a UP5. See it yet? Me neither. UD is Ultra Durable (Asus' version would be Sabertooth). "UP", I can't figure out...but I assume it's "powerful" and aims for the Maximus linage.

Not sure why you're stuck on Gigabyte only as even low cost Asus parts just work...but it's your cash man.

It might be how many stages the VRMs have. Is the UP7 more expensive than the UP4?
