Bit of background:
CPU: i7-870 (2.93 turbo 3.2)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3
GPU: MSi nVidia GTX 670
Ok. My original configuration included the 670 in the PCIex16 slot and a nVidia 9600 in the PCIex4 slot (as a PhysX card). I had installed GPU-Z previously to check GPU clock speed, etc. when I noticed the "Bus Interface" showed the following:
PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x8 2.0 (sometimes 1.1)
I thought "that's odd...I wonder what's going on?
" Then I remembered I had the 9600 in the x4 slot and I know some mobos will reduce the PCIex16 to x8 speed if another PCIex16 slot is utilized. So, I removed the 9600 expecting it would impact the bus interface.
Alas...it did not. So I'm stuck with a GTX 670 in a PCIex16 slot running at x8 speeds.
*Can I change the Bus Interface so I get the x16 speed?
**Will I see an impact if I do?
On a side note: I want to load an image to the forums so you can seen the GPUZ screen shot, but whenever I try to add an attachment I was get a "could not upload attachment to...
" Does anyone know what I need to do so I can upload files?
I appreciate any assistance. Thanks!
