I am searching for the best ways to repair RAM,
i see many manufacturers that offer Cards and software such as R.S.T. Pro and SP3000 and DocMemory.







I want to diagnose and localize the error the problem exactly, if from the firmware so i can flash it or a "bad chip" so i can replace it by a good one. thank you for help.

Here's the first question I have to ask you: do you have a solder reflow oven? Modern RAM (and in fact, a lot of chips today) are mounted on their PCBs via ball-grid-arrays, which take special equipment to solder properly. You could try with something rudimentary like a heat gun, but you could end up doing more damage because of heat stress due to uneven heating.

I don't have problem with "Modern RAM" or "ball-grid-arrays", I can perfectly replace chips, but I can't locate "localize" the bad one.

I think ther is no software fix just a checker if it's already done for, If your going to fix it manually I recommend you just buy a new one its better that the whole unit. Wrong soldering may cause the board to malfunction so do keep in mind that its better to buy a new one.

Are you looking at doing this infrequently or on a regular basis? If it's infrequently, it'd probably just be easier/cheaper to buy a new module. If you really want to replace the chips, memtest86 may work (look at the "Technical Info" section), but you'd have to figure out how the memory addresses map to the specific chips. I seem to remember a thread or two on here that may be useful, try searching for them.

Use Memtest86+ to check your ram, one stick at a time. If you have a bad stick, RMA it because most brand named ram is lifetime warranty.

Soldering on a new chip will just kill the warranty and just don't make sense to me.

I'm still wondering where OP plans to get individual chips.

EDIT: Herp derp, Digikey has plenty from Micron. Then again, you might as well scratch your head at figuring out 1. if it's the right manufacturer 2. if it's the right spec and 3. Do you really want to spend over $8000-$10000 because Digikey only sells them in bulk (in units of 1000 @ $8-$11 each)?

The manufacturer and spec are on the chip. He may be able to find someone selling the chips in smaller quantities.
