Maximum PC

Some asked me the other day if they could run 3DS max 2011 on their laptop (which has the Intel HD 3000 graphics, and is a Core i5 2410 processor -- 2.2 GHz).
I think from what I know of the HD 3000 can use up to 1.8 GB of RAM for video purposes.

But has anyone tried to run it on a laptop with onboard graphics? (I know onboard graphics suck, but this person already has this computer and doesn't really want to buy another laptop to just use this product...)

From my research , it looks as if it could be run.... but has anyone ever tried?? any experiences?? (normally I'd say only with a dedicated graphics card... but this really isn't my question and it's not my own machine...)

Depends on what he is modeling and how he uses it the program. Its like the photoshop of the modeling programs; you can use it to make a pretty box or a really elaborate CGI quality dragon.

I guess that's true... it depends on what's being done. From what I know, he's just starting out with 3DS, so I would think that nothing terribly complex at this point. And I would think that after about 3 years the laptop would be replaced because of age.
