ok long story short

my sons PC quit booting up,its a fairly recent build only about 7 months old, but stable till now.

amd hexacore 1090T
my old BFG gtx 260's(2, but not in sli its amd after all)
and it had
3x1 gb DDR 3 Corsair xms3 sticks in it. ran fine for months
then one day just nuhuh no post

I pulled the ram and replaced with 2 sticks of crucial balistics 2x2gb for 4gb total
boots up fine, now
my issue is

corsair is a good company, but how do I tell which stick is bad? or do I just toss them
and call it a write off? an NO its a long time since I had proof of purchase or sales tickets on 1gb modules of ddr3 lol

As far as how to test 3 individual 1GB sticks of RAM, you would test them one by one no matter what the brand.

Corsair is a company that rates very well with the BBB, so I would contact them. They may or may not ask for proof of purchase. The XMS line has a limited lifetime warranty. In addition, if you bought the RAM form an online resource they are likely to have a copy of the invoice available for download.

Lifetime warranty, no receipt necessary. I love the memory industry. DDR3 so it is current RAM. Might come in useful for someone down the road. Heck if your son's PC is running a 64-bit OS you can add 2 x 1Gb to it. I won't ask why you had three sticks in a dual channel system...nah, I bet I know.

But as was said; pull all the RAM out of a known working DDR3 system and try booting one stick at a time...usually in the slot nearest the CPU. Hopefully one fails to boot.

If all boot then bootup using memtest86 4.0 (my current favorite), memtest86+ or MS Memory Diag tool (enhanced tests) on a CD-R and let it run for at least 7 passes running on each individual stick until one gives you one or more errors. Even a single error is unacceptable to Corsair.

yeah corsair hasnt replied yet
and it got 3 sticks, because that was what was in the OLD system it replaced.
they worked, so they went in, 32 bit system on that one for now.

kind of hoping to just send the whole 3 back and let them sort it out.
I have ddr3 kits on hand new in package, when I see them "cheap" I try to
get a few, what can I say, squirrels put up acorns for winter, I put up ram.
