Ignorant as I am, does an i5-750 chip work with in an LGA1155 socket? My MSI P55M-GD45 board needs replacing (raid failure)

nope you would need a new 1156 board

i'd be pretty tempted to go refurb / ebay / openbox if i could find the right savings / board if i needed a new 1156 board at this point in it's short to dead end life

is your msi board not under warranty?

edit oh lame MSI has a 1yr warranty?? on it's boards... good to know I will stick with gigabyte and their 3yr warranty then
