Maximum PC

Is there any "danger" (to data, partitions) of using a FAT32 partition on a large drive, say like a 250GB drive?

Reason I'm asking is because everything I've read about PS3's is that they can only read FAT32 media on computers. I haven't found much of anything that talks about if it can read an NTFS partition on a computer (I'm trying to network my PS3 with my home network and have it access music on my desktops and laptops on the same network.)

if its over the network the file system wont matter.

I'm aware of the limitations of FAT32 (like a max file size of 4GB, and not as much, if any, security at the file/folder level like in NTFS OSes and partitions.). Any risk of data corruption as the drive fills up?

I feel you should try the PS3 on the network before getting too far into this. The PS3 should be able to see your files just fine, even if they're on NTFS.
Setting up a DLNA Media Server

Well, I haven't bought or changed anything yet. Just doing research at this point... but everything I've read so far says that the PS3 will only reat FAT32 devices (I think it even says this in its manuals--unless they're strictly talking about USB removable storage--ie. usb key, USB portable HD, etc).

Ideally, at some point, I'd like to copy my files (music, video, pictures) to the PS3's hard drive so that I don't need to have my PC on when I want to listen to music or play video on the PS3.

Just another question... does anyone know if the PS3 will support a 1TB drive?

I use FAT32 on my primary HDD which is for
the sole purpose of gaming with old titles that
need the FS to be FAT. It's 320gb.

But my 1tb which I use for large file storage
is formatted NTFS so I can take advantage of
compression and encryption.
