Okay, at the moment i have a 1.5TB hard drive in my computer. I only have about 100GB of disk space left and its gonna be gone by the end of the month. Im thinking about getting a new 3TB hard drive and putting it in raid 0 with the 1.5TB to expand the storage of the two. Since i already have all my data on the 1.5TB hard drive, if i put my 3TB im my computer and set it to raid with the other hard drive, will it appear to have wiped my drive clean when i boot up? or will everything still be where it should? except it would show 4.5TB instead of 1.5TB...

stripping (raid 0) won't work or if it did you'd lose half the capacity of the 3GB drive

Raid 0 is for gaining speed by using two identical drives in a stripped array. this offers no redundancy so it doubles your chance of data loss in that the loss of either drive would destroy all the data on both drives in an irrevocable manner.

if you wanted to use the 1.5 and 3 drives as on big drive you are looking for JBOD (aka SPAN or BIG) refrain from quoting me as i'm not 100% certain but i believe the process of creating the JBOD array will cause you to lose the existing data on the 1.5

if it was me i'd say f*ck it and just have the two separate drives show up in windows for something like this.
