IF you are infected with CWS.Searchx or any spyware that makes your homepage about:blank or about:search (only this kind of spyware), follow below directions to clean it out.

Step #1-Download Stinger
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee ... tinger.exe

Step #2-Go to start, run, type regedit

Navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine: SOFTWARE: Microsoft: Windows NT: Current Version.

Once there you will see a folder named Windows. Just rename it to Windows 2. Also, make sure there is no entry called APP_INIT.dll. IF there is, delete it.

Step #3-Go to http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html

Download Ad-Aware SE. Get the latest updates, scan your system using FULL SYSTEM SCAN feature.

Step #4-Download latest Cool Web Shredder prog at:
http://download.soft32.com/files/19014/CWShredder.exe
Reboot.

Step #5-stop looking at pron

good info. if you are using IE, quickly switch over to mozilla firefox. mozilla firefox is way better than IE.

I agree completely. This is so frustrating in the computer labs I am maintaining. This is a major problem along with students clogging our computers with their programs like IM, chats, and games.

These labs get used as classrooms M-T and Saturday as well. I am currently in a never ending, loosing battle. Thank god we are currently in the process of developing policies and rules that will allow me and other student workers to go as far as kicking people out of labs except for classes. :D

That will teach them hopefully.

See, I don't think so!

Yes, yes mozilla has more features, etc etc.

But...IE loads faster for me, I am used to it's interface and move more quickly around it. Almost all webpages are 100% compatible with it. You can clear history and cookies easier with it. Media player and other media players don't need to be "checked-in." Really, it's mainly because I am just used to it.

Of course the downfalls are spyware, active x hijacks blah blah.

I tried Mozilla and for some damn reason I am back to IE. Behold the powers of Microsoft.
