the author is right .. but blizzard really needs a pause mode .. if i need to run to the bathroom or answer the door or phone i need to be able to pause ..a nother g ame i once bought that was ismilar "always online" was sacred 2 eventuallythey had a patch which added a pause mode .. yes they found a way to do it to an always online game

How about going into town?Starcraft 2 also has a pause option but other players can resume.

cant always tell the phone not to ring when im on the road or in a dungeon there has to be an honest to goodness way of pausing the game or saving at will so i can always get back to where i was
i dont care about being online .. but i cant always play for hours at a time

I was an absolute addict with D2 and never had a problem opening a town portal and going back to town until I was able to resume the game.

Answer: Speaker phone? Bluetooth headset? or... just use your fancy caller ID, see who it is, determine how important they are vs. the importance of killing the mini-boss for the chance of a rare item... while you were debating and thinking, you have 1 missed call. Problem solved.

it has a pause "escape" button .. the beta is shaping up its beta 1.5 or 15 or whatever they are calling it .. but it finally feels like DIABLO.. hit.. and be hit and surrounded by bad things you need to squash it starting to feel like the real thing
