Maximum PC

I have a laptop with windows 7 on it. i downloaded ubuntu 9.10 and burned the cd image. I was wondering if the process for dual booting win7 and ubuntu would be the same as what is shown in that dual boot guide link in the sticky post that shows vista and ubuntu being done. I just want to be able to play with linux and start learning about it before i have to take the linux class at college.

i know i could just run the live cd, but that wouldn't be the same as having it installed to a partition on a hd.
