Maximum PC

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 on my backup PC. I just discovered if I plug my CyberAccoustics 2.1 speakers into my Chaintech AV710 sound card,I don't hear sound at all.But,if I plug my speakers into my onboard Realtek ALC889 soundcard,the speakers do work..although too quietly.(the AV710 was working normally before this.) Is this a sign of a broken AV710,or is there some BIOS setting I'm missing to get my AV710 working again?

(I thought I'd get a better response here in the Alt-OS Abode,rather then the Multimedia Madhouse).


Even wierder..I plugged my Sony V600 headphones into my Chaintech AV710,and it sounds loud and clear.Plug my CyberAccoustics 2.1 speakers into my AV710,nothing.(But my speakers still work with the onboard Realtek ALC889.) This keeps getting more bizzare.

Are the speakers quiet when attached to another computer? Are the headphones loud on the other system?
I don't think this is a problem with the chaintech or the BIOS. The fact your headphones work means we should be able to count the motherboard and sound cards out.

Don't know if I have the room to hook up my Cyber Accoustics speakers to my main Windows 7 PC.
(My computer desk is rather cluttered..)

My Sony V600 headphones are perfectly loud and clear when hooked up to my main Windows 7 PC's onboard sound.

This is really weird.All of a sudden,my speakers are now working - and they're hooked up to my Chaintech AV710.(I'm happy,just a little puzzled.)

Maybe the PCB just needed a bit of wiggling. Happens all the time to me (i don't have the bracket on, mind you).
