Hey guys, I was wondering how you handle the wiring on side panel fans so that when you open the case, you don't damage the fan or mobo? I guess if the wire is long enough, you can open and disconnect it?

I have an Antec 302 with swing panels. I was thinking of adding a fan to the side.

Thanks

I have no belief that side fans are beneficial to the computer. You should keep the airflow following a 2D path as much as possible. Introducing another axis of airflow creates problems.

Well with that, yes, just get an extension cable or be really careful when you open it up.

Totally agree. Side panel fans a are a gimmick to sell more...well....fans. And don't even fall for that positive pressure rhetoric. It doesn't happen, a case has way too many unsealed entry points. It's all about air-flow, yes 2D airflow as you say.

Actually I sort of beg to differ about the positive air pressure thing.

And if it's any proof, the hardware in my FT02 is practically pristine, even nearly a year later. When I had my Antec Nine Hundred, not so much the case (even after I installed air filters).
