Hi folks,

I bought the CoreAVC codec a couple of months ago, hoping to enable accelerated .mkv playback inside WMC7. I had some trouble with subtitles and file extensions, but found CoreCodec's support to be nonexistent. My support ticket went unanswered for three days, when it was automatically closed. I bumped the ticket to reopen it at regular intervals for a month before giving up. Their forums are moderated and no posts have been approved for months. Their twitter account seems active, but any questions about support are shrugged off.

CoreCodec is currently sending out e-mail advertisements for the upcoming CoreAVC v3. Given the fact that there are no support contacts, I must strongly suggest choosing a different codec package if at all possible. This company does not support its customers.

Cheers,
happycamper

You actually PAID for a CODEC? Why? You can get all the ones you need for free in the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. They even have different packages to pick from too, and for free. I don't use any others, never have, and I've never had an issue.

VLC media player has a bunch of codecs i think, is free, and does play MKVs with ease. I suggest a visit to videolan.org to try it out.

Yeah, VLC is awesome too. Sometimes DivX, WMP and VLC won't play certain video files tho, no matter what, or at least not with any remotely good quality at all, so sometimes I have to also use Total Video Player, which just works perfectly for my needs.
