First Dual-Core Smartphone Lands in Korea

My Korean language reading skills are more than a little rusty, understandalbe since I never learned Korean in the first place. But thanks to Google Translate, I get the gist of what Korea's IT Today is reporting . Meet LG's Optimus 2X, the world's first smartphone equipped with a dual-core processor.

Equipped with Nvidia's Tegra 2 platform, the Optimus 2X "superphone" purportedly cuts through 1080p recording like a battleaxe through butter. It's currently being sold in black trim, but will soon be shipping in a white shelled version, beating Apple to the punch.

Other features include a 4-inch touchscreen display, HDMI, and Android 2.2 (a Gingerbreak upgrade is in the works). No word on when LG will port this over to North American shores, but I imagine we'll be seeing dual-core smartphones en masse by the second half of 2011.
