Enermax Cooks Up Sub-$100 Mid Tower Case

Paul Lilly

At one buck shy of a Benjamin, Enermax's new Hoplite mid-tower computer case falls into budget territory, a fact belied by its feature-set. With a focus on "optimal cooling performance," the Hoplite features a front mounted 120mm blue/red combo LED fan with speed and light control, a rear 120mm fan, side fan mounts for two more 120mm fans, and two fan mounts on top that support both 140mm and 120mm fans. Even so, cooling takes a backseat to the rest of the feature-set.

Arguably stealing the show is a hot-swap docking station for 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SSDs and HDDs on top of the case, a wonderful addition for speedy backup jobs. You'll also find a pair of 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays at the bottom of the front panel.

There's a fan door on the front panel that makes changing the fan or cleaning the filter a cinch. Other notable features include cable management cutouts with rubber grommets, extruding panels to hide/cram those cables, dust filter for the bottom-mounted PSU area, and a front panel I/O consisting of two USB 2.0 ports, a single eSATA, HD/AC'97 audio, and a pair of USB 3.0 ports.
