I'm also interested in seeing this in an APU, especially if the rumors that AMD's latest APU architecture has support for quad-channel memory were/are true.

The closer memory speed gets to the speed of CPU cache, the better (even though this is still glacial in comparison). Especially if it is 40% more energy efficient when doing so and doubles the amount of RAM that can be put on each stick, as the video claims, as that could make consumer-level 16 GB sticks potentially common.

This will be good when it arrives at the desktop level. Keep us posted MPC!

I've never seen a generational shift in memory speeds muster more than the most negligible performance increases, as benchmarked on typical gaming or SOHO rigs.

Unless you run a server farm, no need to get wet in the panties just yet.

Pretty much this.

Until we see an actual increase across all levels that faster RAM equates to better performance, there's no reason to get excited. Which pretty much means: wait until the benchmarks arrive.

Exiting times ahead. I'm especially exited to see what this does for the carrizo APU.
