Corsair Launches Limited Edition 8GB Memory Kit, Expects Enthusiasts to Cough Up $500

Let's forget for a moment that $500 buys you a top shelf videocard, an entire entry level system, or a handful of trips to the gas pump in your SUV. If you fancy yourself a RAM enthusiast, or feel compelled to reach deeper into your wallet whenever a company attaches a "limited edition" moniker to a product, Corsair's new Limited Edition 8GB Dominator GT DDR3 memory kit may be just the upgrade you've been looking for.

Corsair insists the 'limited edition' status isn't the only selling point here. The new 8GB kit is guaranteed to operate at 2133MHz at a memory voltage of 1.5V. It's also tightly timed at that frequency at CL9-11-9.

"The unprecedented timing specification on the 1.5V Dominator GT kit makes it ideal for overclocking," said Giovanni Sena, Director of Memory Products at Corsair. "Dominator GT memory is designed for enthusiasts who are obsessed with pushing their PC's performance to the limit, and this latest kit is a worthy addition to the family."

In addition, the new limited edition kits are hand assembled and the result of a multi-stage component screening process, which includes screening individual ICs before slapping them onto PCBs.

The 8GB kit (CMT8GX3M2A3133C9), as mentioned, runs $500 and is available now direct from Corsair.
