Upcoming netbooks armed with Google's open-source, cloud-based Chrome operating system should finally start appearing later this month, DigiTimes reports .
Among the upcoming notebooks will be a Google branded unit similar in strategy to the Nexus One smartphone. Inventec will be in charge of the producing the Google netbook with first-run shipments expected to reach 60,000 to 70,000 units. These will be built around an ARM-based platform, DigiTimes says.
After Google leads the way, Acer and Hewlett-Packard will fall in line with Chrome netbooks of their own, both of which are targeting a December launch. Asus, meanwhile, plans to sit on the sidelines and observe the market before making a decision on whether or not to dive in.
