So China is telling an American company they have 20 days to have a written explanation. Or else what?!

China: You need to explain why so many incompatibility issues with Windows!

MS: Thank you for contacting Microsoft, before we get started, we need to verify you are using genuine Windows. We're sorry, your validation is unsuccessful, you will receive a description of why the software is not genuine Windows software.

China: 该死!

You know what's more annoying than a recovering alcoholic who's discovered religion? Recovering communists who've discovered cutthroat capitalism. From one extreme to the other...

Sounds more like the Chinese are applying the sort of standards to Microsoft that it's long been able to evade under the corrupt and degenerate 'capitalism' being practiced in America (and elsewhere). Hilarious.

Let's see...

China's been using Windows XP well up to its EOL date no? Vista introduced new security measures to give a user standard privileges unless elevated to an admin (like sudo in Linux/UNIX). Programs that were expecting admin rights by default broke in unimaginable ways. I'm also pretty sure Microsoft's TechNet has been waving the red flag around to "STOP ASSUMING THINGS YOU CAN'T HAVE"

So excluding the piracy issue, my guess is software developers in China don't know how to write software.

If you practice modern software development techniques, these problems would be mitigated.

Note China gets it's tech mostly by stealing from others, it has no real way to innovate. if it losses MS it actually likely will be forced to learn to program on it's own and find out it's lagging behind.

Look at trade between China and any trade between america.

america loses every time. China almost literally owns america, all while the united states government just sits back and watches

Hey.That_Dude

And yet, our GDP is greater... herm, perhaps your argument isn't as solid as you thought.

Is there a problem with the trade deficit: sure. Is it as big as you think: no, China will collapse under itself one day. Just wait for it.

America could get backs on its feet in manufacturing if its corporations stopped thinking about the bottom line...

Like that'll happen.

avatar

jbitzer

And if unions would allow assembly monkeys to be paid what turning a screw all day was worth, the bottom line overseas wouldn't be as lucrative.

avatar

dedgar

It would provide them with a reason for requiring everyone in China to stop using MS software and use the programs which they are writing.

China is gonna chase software guys from the market when their own stuff fails because they cannot innovate only copy it'll flounder the entire industry in china for tech.

i could imagine Bullwinkle's reaction to this.

avatar

Arthur Dent

/s It's because there's so many backdoor in microdicks winmalware that it can't run any software /s.

Now you don't need to imagine anymore!

Whatever happened to him, anyways? Don't tell me he's up there in troll heaven with silencer, talking it up about leaks and the evil of M$...

MaximumMike

Silencer was a real troll. But love him or hate him, Bullwinkle is no more a troll than you are.

ROFLOL, Good luck with that one China, ALL Microsoft's software has verification codes and so do many other software companies if not all has verification codes now days, keeps people honest.

Creates hackers too. I got a Thinkpad Tablet 2. The one I got came with the student edition of Office. I thought that was a nice bonus.

However I had some warranty problems with the tablet and installed my software enough times to trigger their lock while sorting it out.

Never did get it running right. If I would have kept the tablet I would have pirated a copy to get my copy working.

avatar

dorkish

but I'm thinking the problem they have with compatability is because 80% of the MS software aren't legal copys :)

It's over 90%. The pirate is everywhere in China, even some government based server, especialy personal used computer. 400M+ pcs in China, how much money are talking?
I think China against MS because China wants MS to share their souce code with Chinese base software company, such like Kingsoft, they created office like software-WPS. Also China wants to get rid of MS's OS and write their own OS, they already did but still copy from some kind of linux. The other reason is Snowden. Chinese government try to find a way to not been monitoring by NSA because of MS windows or the other softwares. I believe somebady heard rumor that Chinese government wants ban apple's products from government officials because apple company monitoring user's informations.
In 1990s, MS used to share office code with Kingsift, that's made WPS happened, few years later, MS stopped sharing, then the development of WPS stopped. I think you will understand reasons.
So what's behind this antitrust?
