Ok. After i read about echo here i bought it on Amazon. I'm already returning it . Guys this is a piece of garbage , i'm sorry to sound so cliche but this device is useless it is very slow plus it gives me some weird video problem , everything is pink , no i'm serious everything on screen is pinky color . I don't know what MPC were drinking when they were reviewing this product , 8 , really ? It's not worth it , stay away from it .

So I bought it a few months ago. I was very excited because my whole house has large screens that act essentially as monitors (every TV has a computer connected to it).

My Echo would not load the MCE interface after the initial load. The initial load actually performed slowly, very laggy. Then after rebooting, it was never able to see my network and would hang on the "Updating" screen. When I asked Ceton about it, they mentioned to let it sit on that screen. After the first three hours, I decided to hard reset it. Still nothing. I packed it up after leaving it "Updating" for three days.

Super disappointed. Not to mention the absence of the Android-boot they promised late last year.

I must say, this review isn't really a review. It just talks about the features. No performance discussion. No talk about ease of connection to the network. No reflection on the horrible reviews out there. Essentially, I could have written this review without once touching the device by simply reading the product page on the Ceton website and another Chrome tab on wikipedia on how Media Center works.

I might want to pick one of these up as soon as it supports MKV files, since 99% of all my media is in that Format.

The Mac

Never gonna happen.

The extender protocol is built on RDP.

It will only support what media center supports natively.

As soon as MS supprts MKV natively in Media Center, you will get your wish.

Good luck with that....lol

The Mac

I have 3 of their Cable card tuners, they are rock solid.

great company, family run, and exceptional tech support...

i also have the companion app, which is well worth the $5. You dont need any ceton products to use it, just media center.

The remomte is a standard rc6 MC remote, so you can change it to whatever you are comfortable with.

Thank you very much for heads-up. Been using xbox360 as extender for a while and was wondering where is all competition ?
