Say what you want about Biostar, just don't accuse the company of lacking excitement over Intel's upcoming Sandy Bridge-E launch. In fact, we'd wager Biostar's just as excited as we are, hence the giddy tagline pimping its TPower X79 motherboard as "The most powerful motherboard on the planet." Benchmarks will bear out whether or not that's true, but in the meantime, here's what we know about Biostar's newest slice of silicon.
Like all boards built about Intel's X79 chipset, the TPower X79 supports socket LGA 2011 processors (Sandy Bridge-E). It has an integrated heatpipe design, three-way CrossFire and SLI, four DIMM slots with support for DDR3-2400 (OC) memory, three PCI-E x16 ports, two PCI-E x1 ports, a single PCI port, seven SATA ports, USB 3.0 support, eSATA, and other connectivity options.
Biostar's really pushing the TPower X79 as an extreme overclocking board capable of setting OCing records, and towards that end it boasts a nine-phase power supply, heat radiating fins on the main chipset, onboard power, reset, and clear CMOS buttons, and a debug LED indicating lamp.
The TPower X79 will be available November 14th. No word on price.
