Boards built around AMD's new 880G chipset are just now starting to appear, including three models Biostar introduced today: TA880G HD, TA880GB HD, and A880G HD.

All three motherboards come paired with AMD's SB850 South Bridge, which means native SATA 6Gb/s support, integrated Radeon HD 4250 graphics with support for DirectX 10.1, and HT3.0 support.

Biostar's new boards share quite a bit in common, including support for six-core Phenom II X6 chips, DVI and HDMI ports, a single PCI-E slot, and RAID 0/1/5/10. So what separates the mobos?

  • A880G HD: 2 DDR3-1333 slots, 6 channel audio, 4 SATA ports
  • TA880GB HD: 4 DDR3-1600 (OC) slots, 6 channel audio, 6 SATA ports
  • TA880G HD: 5 phase design, 4 DDR3-1600 (OC) slots, 8 channel audio, 128MB sideport memory, 1 PCI-E x1, additional PS/2 port, all solid caps
The middle and high-end variants also come equipped with Biostar's GTO 6 3 technology, which the company claims enhances system performance up to 60 percent or more.
