Quite possibly the most over rated game ever, as well as political propaganda.

I couldn't agree more! I got about half way through and just got bored. I've played and finished two other games in the meantime. I'll go back and finish it but, yeah... don't believe the hype.

Kinda late aren't we?

No, this was in the Magazine forever ago. As is indicated at teh top of the page.

Can't say that I'm inspired to get this just yet. I'm not a fan of escort missions in any capacity, even if they don't suck (as this one supposedly doesn't). Other reviews for this game tell me that it is too easy (as was BS1) and is a shooter "on rails" (literally). It still looks like a crappy console port to me. Just look at the low resolution on those textures; looks like something meant for a system with only 512 MB total RAM....

Religious zealotry doesn't seem as intriguing as watching what happens when a megalomaniac attempts to take over a capitalist nation, using socialism to rally people to his cause so that he could become a dictator.

Not a fan of burning American flags on the cover, and I'm trying to limit my downloads from the Steam. I've liked DeWitt's voice actor in other roles so I'll probably pick this one up.

Trust me, the story may get a little confusing and at a couple of points, a little boring, but play it through to the end.

Also, there's an option to turn DX-11 on. I noticed a huge difference in textures once I enabled it.

You never escort Elizabeth. She survives on her own and helps you, she saves you more than you save her.

You can get all three Bioshock games in the Bioshock Triple Pack on Amazon for 20 dollars currently.

You do not escort her ever, you get the illusion that you do, she throws you weapons and supplies throughout too. The game looks very good when you actually play it, but the game isn't about graphics. Game is fun, not a challenge.

^^ This guy ... this guy! I want to subscribe to your blog man.

I read that Bioshock Infinite was influenced by Ayn Rand/Atlas shrugged. I turned it off about half way through the game.

I played this game all the way through, even though it's possibly the most tedious shooter ever made, just so no one would accuse me of being unfair. Trust me, I'm being overly generous when I say that the plot is incoherent. The battles are obnoxious, owing to poorly designed weaponry and bland enemies. The "characters" are zero-dimensional, motiveless stereotypes. The supposed social commentary is so thin as to be positively insulting. The ending is idiotic, a steaming pile of half-digested Rod Serling story notes. AND on top of all that, the game is too short. (Though I'll admit, it does FEEL longer. Agony is like that.)

All in all, I'm hard pressed to think of a single positive thing to say about this POS. I find it absolutely astounding that anyone could give it better than a 3 or 4 out of 10, on their most charitable day. I sincerely hope that "the world of BioShock" doesn't get any worse than this. For the love of god, just retire the franchise.

I'm with you fungo. After the 5th time travel, slash resurrect pseudo history in steam punk fashion, I started to blank out. Maybe it was cuz I was stoned and couldnt keep up.

I could not connect with the characters, it was just kind of meh.

Why would you continue to play "all the way through" a game that you early on realized sucked?

Either you're a masochist or full of shit.

or a completionist.

I have finished games that i got bored of half way though just to finish it. Its a grind, but i can say i finished it.

The Elisabeth AI was very well thought out. She not only acts human and tosses you things, she also stays out of the way during combat. Most "buddy" AI's are hard to navigate around, block important points of egress or stand and stare at you like a dumshit while you're getting mauled.

I would like to point out that this game is very optimized for PC. It felt like the PC was the platform they made the game for, and then ported that polished product to consoles, not the other way around. (The way God meant it to be)

Not a bad review, head on the nail on many aspects, despite being so late....

Site should stick to game reviews since their tech people are terrible with hardware reviews and putting together computers.

avatar

jbitzer

It's late because it came out in the magazine forever ago.

Since the site sucks so bad, why don't you just let google find one more to your liking?

avatar

JosephColt

No reason to release it on the site this late if it was in magazine.

not everyone subscribes to the magazine.

Also people like to comment on articles which cant be done in the magazine obviously.

Dont read them if you dont like them or go elsewhere.

The rest of us appreciate them.
