AVADirect Announces 3D Vision Ready Gaming Notebook from Clevo

Paul Lilly

Clevo builds the kind of notebooks that, if you were to place one next to a bulk OEM laptop, a yellow puddle would form. AVADirect configures and sells them, and hardcore gamers who care more about framerates than mobility buy them and then proceed to frag their friends, even if it means heading across town to a LAN party to do so. Now gamers with deep wallets can do the same thing in 3D with the new Clevo P170HM-3DE gaming notebook.

Despite the ho-hum model name, there's nothing boring about the configuration options, if you're willing to up the ante. A stock system starts at $2,322.22 and includes:

  • 17.3-inch 3D LED backlit LCD (1920x1080)
  • Intel Core i7 2630QM processor (2GHz, 6MB L3 cache, HD Graphics 3000)
  • 2GB DDR3-1066
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 485M 2GB
  • 500GB 5400RPM HDD
  • DVD burner
  • 9-in-1 media card reader
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

For a few extra bucks (less than $40) you can step up to faster spinning hard drive and twice the amount of RAM, and for a lot of extra coin, you can deck the system out with SSDs, oodles of RAM, an Intel Core i7 2920XM Extreme processor, custom paint job, and a boatload of accessories and software. You might not have enough left over to put the kids through college when you're finished, but hey, you'll have the fastest Sandy Bridge system on the block, and 3D to boot.
