I thought this happened like a decade ago. I used to get the AT&T DirecTV bill at my mother in laws house every month in the mail....

They have no overlap, so they dont compete directly.

Yes they do. U-Verse is the current AT&T cable TV product (albeit a limited one) and they compete in the same markets. The point is that there are now less operators out there competing. This, combined with Comcast buying Time Warner means a consolidation of the power base.

Actually they do, both are avialable in my area, and because one is a satellite company and the other one runs over already installed phone lines(fiber to the node), they compete directly in many areas where as comcast and time warner might have two cities where they directly compete
