Google can't allow this to happen as ChromeOS should be the only Google OS to run on PCs. If people were to experience Android on a PC then they'd start asking Google "What is the purpose of this vastly-inferior ChromeOS?"

I miss the good ol'days when Google's mantra was "Do no evil"

I believe that mantra was always "ironic" as Google was always doin' evil.

I think we all do. Then they decided that the best course of action as to chase Facebook, and the best way to do that was to hire the types of people who run places like micrsoft and facebook, and so do no evil turned into "Do only as much evil as they can stand until you've trained them to stand some more"

Would have been a nice new toy for us tinkerers.

This is a serious question because I don't understand the purpose of such a product: why would anyone boot into the Android side? Is there actually something it can do that windows can't?

Some android apps don't exist in Windows land.

You have to understand that the version of Windows that this is booting to is WinRT and that its software ecosystem is about a fifth the size of Android's.

Eoraptor

no, its booting on X86, which means it is a full Windows 8.1, not a windows rt on an arm chip

Granite

Wrong.

This has Win8.1.

I agree. Who has the time to dualboot? why dualboot at all? I would see ot as a better option to have an android emu app in w8 or vice versa. switching b\w the two will be a pain in the ass

The real question is why would anyone boot into the windows 8 side? Windows, especially x86 windows, makes little to no sense on a handheld touch oriented device.

Renegade Knight

After using Win 8 and Android on a touch screen. I'm happy to use 8 and will stick by it unless MS completely goes off the deep end with lock in with Windows 9.

No, the real question is "Why would they boot into Android?". The type of people who use Windows 8 are likely to mess something up in the Android environment.

I see a lot of unnecessary tech support calls being averted by this announcement.

I take it you are not one of those who believe Win8 is only useful on tablets and such.

Probably access to the Play Store. Yeah, Microsoft has it's own app store but it pales in comparison.

Google needs to get over themselves.

Win8 shouldn't even be compared to Android, since nobody wants it and it only sold 200 million copies. Silly Google.

Darn. I was hoping to give the wife my T100 and upgrade to this.
