    Corsair H80i Review

    Corsair H80i

    Super cool in every respect

When Corsair released its closed-loop H80 water cooler in 2011, we found it to be one of the best-performing dual-fan kits available. It was also very loud at full blast and cumbersome to install, and the updated H80i model sets out to address these issues while also improving performance.

    Thermaltake New Soprano Review

    Thermaltake Soprano

A soprano could sing inside of this case and you’d never hear it

Finding a chassis that successfully combines practical noise dampening, useful features, and cooling can be a bit of a needle in the haystack sometimes—but in this case (pardon the pun), that’s Thermaltake’s New Soprano. The solid construction of this chassis creates an upgrading or installation experience that’s free of frustration. Our only complaint with the case, if you can really call it that, is that it lacks pizazz.

    Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 4TB Review

    Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 4TB

    Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 4TB

The Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 4TB made its first appearance in this magazine back in September 2012, when a gaggle of them debuted in the Dream Machine. At the time, they were the only 7,200rpm 4TB drives available, so they fit right in among all the other expensive and hard-to-find components. Now that the dust has settled and the 7K4000 has some company, we decided to put it on the test bench to see how it fares against its only rival in the 4TB category.

    Western Digital RE 4TB Review

    Western Digital RE 4TB

    Western Digital RE 4TB

The WD RE 4TB drive is specifically meant to handle an enterprise workload, but don’t let that scare you off, as it includes a desktop-friendly SATA 6Gb/s interface. As long as you’re running Windows Vista or Windows 7, you should be able to format it into one partition somewhat easily, though you could use it as a boot drive if you’re insane. Its enterprise pedigree is evident not only in its RE branding but in its 1.2 million-hour MTBF, or mean time between failure. This means you should be using this drive at least until Apple Maps for iOS has caught up to Google Maps.

    CyberPower Zeus M2 Review

    CyberPower Zeus M2

    The more-affordable ultraportable

If it’s true that Ultrabooks aren’t meeting sales expectations because of high prices, CyberPower is making moves in the right direction by offering a trio of 14.1-inch models that break the $1,000 barrier. One of those is the Zeus M2, which rings in at $850. That’s nearly half the cost of the Lenovo X1 Carbon we reviewed last month. So what, if any, features and performance are sacrificed in the service of money savings?

    Borderlands 2 Review

    Borderlands 2

    The shoot-and-loot format (almost) perfected

We loved the original Borderlands for all of its first-person-shooter action, varied gameplay (there was shooting people and driving over them, for example), and lots and lots of guns. In fact, the official claim from developer Gearbox Software was that the game offered 16,164,886 guns, which is almost as big as Gordon Mah Ung’s personal collection. Despite its glorious carnage, it also had a few glaring problems, foremost of which was a horrendous PC port that was so bad Gearbox publicly apologized (via a love letter written by the game’s annoying NPC Claptrap) and promised to make it right with Borderlands 2.

    Aivia Mechanical Keyboard

Easy on the fingers but not on the wrists

Gigabyte has finally stepped into the mechanical keyboard ring with a fully loaded Cherry MX gaming keyboard named the Osmium. Though the keyboard is stuffed with useful features, it has a few faults that prevent it from taking up permanent residence under our fingertips.

    Phanteks PH-TC90LS

    Small and quiet

Almost every CPU cooler we receive nowadays is some massive tower that loves consuming every square-inch of chassis space. Because we’ve been inundated with these hulking behemoths, it’s refreshing to see a low-profile cooler such as Phanteks’ PH-TC90LS. At 3.75x3.75x1.77 inches, this cooler makes the Intel stock cooler look tall and should fit the snuggest of HTPC builds.

Maingear Alpha 24 Super Stock Review

    Maingear Alpha 24

    No retreat, no surrender

We’ve long maintained that no all-in-one could ever satisfy a Maximum PC reader’s primary desktop computing needs because design limitations lead to compromises that impact gaming. To accommodate the space constraints and cooling concerns of these compact systems, AiO designers typically rely on mobile CPUs and GPUs that lack the horsepower needed for maximum performance in games.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC Review

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC

Kepler's Swan Song arrives with a GTX badge

Nvidia has been popping out Kepler cards like a circus clown car since the company launched its 6-series GPUs in early 2012, and now we finally reach the bottom of the GTX barrel with the $150 GTX 650 Ti. This card slots in right below the $230 GTX 660 and has less of everything—less CUDA, less memory (and a narrower memory bus width), and less PCB.
