AMD resigning in a huff over alleged bias in SYSMark2012 is one thing, but now two other vendors have publicly confirmed that they have quit the benchmarking organization called BAPCo.

On Wednesday, officials with VIA confirmed reports that the company had quit and said its reasons were similar to AMD’s. Read on for VIA's dis of SYSMark.

BAPCo fires back at AMD and Nvidia confirms it quit too.

Responding to allegations that the new SYSMark2012 benchmark isn’t valid for today’s hardware, BAPCo fired back at AMD and said the chip company voted in favor of 80 percent of the proposals in the benchmark.

Business Applications Performance Corporation or BAPCo officials also denied that they tried to expel AMD from the group after AMD started publically grousing.

    Maingear Shift Super Stock Review

How far can you take a Sandy Bridge processor? We’ve heard that even extreme overclockers seem to hit a wall just beyond 5GHz with Intel’s darling new chip.

Whatever the limitations, Maingear seems content to take its Shift Super Stock to the brink of madness by clocking the 3.4GHz Core i7-2600K to 5GHz.

    Polywell Ignition X5800 Review

Here at Maximum PC, we adhere to the cable news statistics rule that two data points is all you need to create a trend. So being presented with the second white system we’ve seen in the last three months, we can now declare that white is the new black (which was the new beige).

And, (Kent Brockman voice-over) it’s a trend we like. Far from gaudy, Polywell’s Ignition X5800 manages to look powerful, stately, and professional. It’s an appropriate aesthetic coming from a company with a long history of making computers for work. For 24 years, Polywell has cranked out workstations, servers, and even Alpha-based rigs.

Remember those “kids” in Little League who shaved and had college-age girlfriends yet their birth certificates said they were 14 years old? iBuypower’s LAN Warrior II is kind of like that.

    Origin Chronos Review

The Origin Chronos was an early bet on which system would be the fastest here, as we’ve seen what other vendors can do in Silverstone’s fabulous FT03 case.

Despite it having the same volume as the AVADirect and iBuypower machines, the FT03 occupies a smaller footprint than all others here, including the CyberPower LAN Party Evo, yet it accommodates an incredible amount of hardware.

    CyberPower LAN Party EVO Review

If you stopped a nerd in an electronics store and asked her to describe a small form factor PC, she’d just pull up a picture of CyberPower’s LAN Party Evo on her smartphone.

In many ways, this is the ultimate evolution of the original SFF design. The LAN Party Evo isn’t much bigger than the original SFFs of yesteryear, but peep these specs: a 3.4GHz Core i7-2600K, a GeForce GTX 580 card, a 120GB Intel 510 SSD, and 1TB hard drive.

    AVADirect Compact Gaming PC Review

For our shoot-out, AVADirect came loaded for bear… as well as grabboid, sandworm, and arachnid, too. Yeah, basically AVADirect enters the scene packing a cartoonish amount of hardware firepower.

In what arguably pushes the definition of a small form factor rig, AVADirect’s Compact Gaming PC sports an Intel 3.46GHz Core i7-990X, 12GB of DDR3/1600, and two of AMD’s Radeon HD 6990 cards in CrossFireX mode.

Falcon Northwest’s FragBox is no new face around here. We’ve seen various iterations of this SFF over the years, but the latest is perhaps the most impressive. In a chassis that’s the second-smallest of the bunch—just slightly larger than CyberPower’s LAN Party Evo—Falcon manages to jam in not one, but two GeForce GTX 580 cards, along with a 3.4GHz Core i7-2600K overclocked to 4.2GHz.

Velocity Micro Raptor Signature Edition Review

The bell may toll for LGA1366, but at least Intel’s premier performance socket isn’t going down without a fight. The fight, in this case, is the new hexa-core Core i7-990X, which is at the heart of Velocity Micro’s Raptor Signature Edition PC.

The new CPU boasts a slight clock bump up from the 980X’s 3.33GHz to 3.46GHz. With Turbo Boost, the 990X will take the cores up to 3.73GHz. So why even build on LGA1366 at all when its sibling, the LGA1155-based Sandy Bridge, offers such kick-ass performance for an ass-kicking price?
