Yeah, I can't even get past the first level of Shotgun debugger :(.  I tried doing what is said online, to hug the walls and find a break in the fence, but i tried every part of the fence and couldn't get through lol.

Keep trying!  It's a nasty intro level!

Then my girlfriend walked in =(

Try explaining that one...

I probably wouldn't start a story with "my buddies and i were playing pink pony..."

Thanks for the tip Dave! Unfortunately I got to it a little too late, and my twitter stream was already filled with comments illustrating why starting a story in that manner is not advisable. Are there any manly open-source games that might ease the pain? ;-)

"Facewound by Facepunch studios" .. =D Sounds potent, definitely redemption worthy. Thanks for the tip!

It's an oldie, but Facewound is definitely a guilty pleasure when you just have the need to go blow some stuff up.

Yeah, the pony game just happens to fall short in the explosions category... thankfully. Unless glitter counts, that is.

Nice list Dave, as always. I'm really enjoying these "Open Source" articles. Keep 'em coming.

Oh, and Knights reminds me of a blending of Nethack with another game called Rogue. Use to play that on my IBM XT (Intel 8088). Good times, good times...

Thanks!  I write roundups every week.  :D

Is this philanthropy or are you getting paid? Not that it matters, though.

Totally philanthropy.  After I write these, I go to the local pet shelter and deliver handpicked open-source or freeware software to abandoned puppies and kitties.

Well, it beats eating hamburgers over at the In-Laws house. =p

May try the last two - the screen grab from Yo Frankie! looks purty.

But seriously... Ponies?

Just just any ponies -- TRON ponies.

Surely we can all appreciate the awesomeness that is pink, heart-spewing animal lightcycles.
