I enjoy the simplicity and stylization of DeskTask, but I don't have Outlook. Do you know any other programs that are similar that don't require Outlook as I use webbased email.....and I don't want to shell out money for Outlook.

I like the fact that DigiTweet is Open Source.

I would expect good things from that app!

digiTweet is in no way a match / an alternative to either TweetDeck or Seesmic Desktop:

  • multiple accounts: NO
  • facebook integration: NO
  • cross plattform: NO
  • usable interface: NO
  • you name it

if your other "alternatives" are of the same quality ...

This is strange, there are usually a host of well thought out responses to each of The Murph's articles. I can't seem to find them today.

EDIT:

Ooops, never mind. Those only appear in Murphey's Law

It depends.  Some freeware files generate lots of chatter.  Some...  I can only assume that some instill such an inspiration in readers that they simply don't have the words to respond--they can only download and smile.

OK, wait, so now that I've installed Air in response to your recent article about how great it was and the cool little apps for it, now you're telling me it sucks and I should use these free alternatives instead???

You can't make your own mind up?

"this week's freeware roundup isn't intended to be a slam on these Adobe apps."

"Rather, I'll be taking a look at some of Adobe AIR's more popular applications and offering up unique freeware alternatives that don't require use of the AIR platform to work."
