Super Talent Announces Next Gen USB 3.0 Flash Drives at Last Gen Prices
Now that third-party USB 3.0 chips from the likes of NEC and VIA are appearing on nearly every new motherboard, it's high time device makers jump on the SuperSpeed bandwagon. Super Talent says it has, introducing a new line of USB 3.0 flash drives the memory maker says will cost about the same as USB 2.0 thumb drives.
"Here is a USB 3.0 drive that performs, yet stays on budget. There's simply really no reason to buy a USB 2.0 flash drive anymore," said CH Lee, COO of Super Talent.
The new USB 3.0 Express DUO 2-CH flash drives sport a cap-less industrial design and a piano black finish. You twist the plastic housing to reveal the USB 3.0 port inside. Once plugged in, you'll find that Super Talent bundled Microsoft's Security Essentials antivirus program on the drive, which is a free download anyway, but hey, at least this way it won't count against your broadband data cap.
The new drives are available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities and street for around $19, $30, and $70, respectively.
