Nokia Slaps Apple with Another Patent Suit
As far as Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia is concerned, those dirty, rotten, no-good buggers at Apple keep getting away with patent infringement, and on a large scale. Nokia's latest lawsuit accuses Apple of infringing patents in "virtually all" of its mobile phones, portable music players, tablets, and computers. That's quite the laundry list of devices.
According to an AP report, Nokia is mad as hell over seven patents in its new complaint that relate to "pioneering innovations" and which Apple is allegedly using "to create key features in its products, including in multitasking operating systems, data synchronization, positioning, call quality, and the use of Bluetooth accessories."
This is far from Nokia's first go-round with Apple. As early as last week, the United States International Trade Commission ruled against Nokia for patent violation claims that date back to 2009, which is when Nokia and Apple began trading legal jabs. Nokia had originally sued Apple for allegedly violating 10 patents, prompting Apple to fire back with a lawsuit of its own claiming Nokia was in violation of 13 of its patents.

Don't judge Nokia by its weaker North America presence. They've done more for cell phone tech, and sold more units then Apple can even dream of. Right now I think they're in a bit of a panic because they've made enough big mistakes in the past few years to really cost them, but their phones have never failed me.

Nokia sounds like a sore loser. They are just mad because their are people smarter than they are and someone thought of their ideas as well.

I bet Nokia have people on staff though, that know how to spell and use proper grammar.

Since we have the best legal system money can buy, and Apple has more than enough money to buy it, Nokia has no chance, right or wrong...

Wrong. Nokia's bankroll says they have just as much of a chance as anyone.

I'd bet money that Apple's US based bankroll will carry much more weight than Nokia's Finnish based bankroll. Courtesy of all those taxes and campaign contributions...

This is frivolous, despite the fact that I don't really care for Apple...maybe our legal system should think about imposing the inability to sue (read--it gets THROWN OUT in the GARBAGE before the judge even gets to see it) for a set amount of time if the cases being filed are consistently determined too frivolous or have no real effect on behalf of the party by the courts. Maybe it should be a misdemeanor; courts have more important stuff to deal with than "the iPhone is just as clear as our Nokia" and all that other BS. If such a law should pass, basically, pretty much any tech company wouldn't be able to sue each other probably indefinitely the way they are. That would be pretty funny, but it's only a pipe dream.

"IMHO they should be declared invalid as companies have been doing every one of those 'features' for decades."
And then have Apple take over or "patent" them so they can sue everyone else eh?

This is ridiculous. I'm apposed the constantly suing of everyone but Apple is no different than Nokia. Apple will sue anyone who uses the word "pod" or "pad" in their description. If Apple could they would sue anyone who makes "notepads" if they could. In essence their all idiotic.

Next they'll need to sue, I think its Johnson & Johnson or whoever makes MaxiPads and Always.

I hope Apple squashes them into itty biity bits of road kill. If they have patents on what's listed, IMHO they should be declared invalid as companies have been doing every one of those 'features' for decades.
This crap has gotta end.
