Recording USB Interface
Submitted by JobyP on Sat, 2008-03-29 10:40.

To the guy that wanted a good audio interface. Check out the M-Audio Fast Track Pro or Ultra, both are cheap and work well. You get 48k 24bit recording and up to 96K 24 bit playback. In response to the Max PC guys saying you don't need one, I disagree. The ASIO drivers in the Fast Track will allow you next to zero latency recording which is SUPER important for Multi-track recording. The Fast Track Pro can be had for about $200 and gives you two line inputs for Guitar or bass, RCA inputs, SPDIF Output and Two XlR's for Mic's actually it's only downfall in the headphone out which is a little quiet. Plus the Fast Track allows you to hook up to a "Professional" monitor system you'd have to cable some crap up using your paltry little X-fi . . . I recorded this entire EP with it.

Commutes
Submitted by DoctorOwl on Sun, 2008-03-30 17:57.

I've done the hard commutes. I hated them, so I move next to work. Now I live 5 minutes walk away and don't need a car or anything. On one hand the rent is higher, on the other hand I save time and money on transport.

No Car?
Submitted by Keith E. Whisman on Mon, 2008-03-31 00:21.

I live alone and my two children are with me only two to three days a week then they stay with their mom. When I go shopping I never get less than six bags of grocieries. And I go shopping every week. How do you cope without a car? How do you go shopping without a car? Life would suck without my car even if I lived next to the City transit yard. (I'm a bus driver).

Driving = Suck

Yeah, I drive an hour one-way to and from work each day. On the plus side, podcasts like this one (especially this one) make the commute far less painful. This is why my world pretty much ends when my podcasts get delayed. /killself.

Company Mass e-mail issue

May I recommend you introduce your HR director to BCC? Not that they'll necessarily pay attention, but it can't hurt to try... :)

When to answer your phone....
Submitted by guyvii on Tue, 2008-04-01 10:37.

Gordon,
My hero... You are sooo wrong. If you are talking to someone and answer your phone... that is wrong. Unless you know the call is more important then the coversation you are having with the person next to you, the call can go to voicemail and you can call them back. If some one is talking to you and answer your phone, you are ignoring them and telling them this phone call is more important than they are to you. The person you were talking to might as well leave. He can not even leave you a voicemail to finish his talk with you. How would you feel if Will was talking to you and someone comes up to him and starts talking in a language you do not understand and they both ignore you? I am sure a little bothered. If the phone rings, let in go to voicemail. Most times it is not even important enought for them to even bother leaving a voicemail. So you would have been rude for nothing.
IMHO. Don't get me on a rant. This is one to the things I do not like. LOL

Gordon....does he laugh?
Submitted by Scapegoat on Wed, 2008-04-02 09:23.

That's right, I don't think I ever hear, or notice Gordon laughing on the podcast. everyone else does. Or does he, and I just mistake it for Will's laugh? I dunno, it's just been nagging at me.
