No BS Podcast #99: This Episode is a Palindrome
The gang launches into this week's edition of the No BS podcast by immersing themselves into webcam-powered augmented reality. We also report on Seagate's SATA 6Gb/s interface test (it's fast!) and share our thoughts about HP's Firebird hybrid PC. On the rant of the week, Gordon lets loose on people who use facebook as an outlet to complain about their jobs, and explains why he thinks Spock was also full of rage. We also take a few listener questions, making a gaming mouse recommendation and discus the browser war.
We'll be taking a short break from podcasting as various members of the staff go on vacations, but will be back in three weeks for our 100th episode. Stay tuned!

Is it just a coincidence that Pennsylvania is where George Romero's 'Dead' films are set?

Since we are on the cusp of the 100th episode, I would just like to take a moment and acknowledge one of the most clairvoyant individuals of our time ... Gordon Mah Ung ... of Gordon Ung's Futurist, LLC.
Back in September, Gordon announced the financial investment strategy known as the Canned Food and Ammo Fund (since the economy was beginning to melt down around us).
Reading a local newspaper the other day, I came across an article talking about how gun sales in the state of Pennsylvania are booming despite the economy being in the toilet (yes, they used the word booming). I couldn't help but chuckle and say "Gordon was right!"

When Gordon actually praised the Mac Pro I knew something was wrong. Someone has slipped in decaf coffee as a practical joke.
I agree with another poster though; this is the best tech podcast out there.

This is definitely my favorite tech podcast. I like the expertise of the staff, particularly Gordon. Try not to interrupt him.
The show with the younger staff a couple of weeks ago wasn't so good. I think mainly because they stumbled around with their speech ... hhmm, well, err, etc.
My suggestion would be to always give the facts in the podcast - don't tease the listeners. We will read the magazine for more information, but I don't like being teased - give us last week's data if necessary but I want the data - that's one of the key great things about this podcast - that you understand what you're talking about and don't mess around too much.

You could tell that everyone was all happy about the new Star Trek trailer but Gordon's knocking of it just broke their hearts.

WTF is a Palindrome???
Why is there any political references in the title of the article.

Palindromes are words that read the same forward and backward. 99 reads the same forwards and backwards. In the end, the only politics in the title are the ones you brought along with you.

Since I've been listening to your podcasts about a year ago I have been experiencing worsening insomnia. I've noticed at the drugstores and walmart that the shelves are empty of sleep aid medications. It's gotten to the point that the strongest sleeping pills don't work on me anymore. I lay down to sleep and my heart just starts racing and I can't fall asleep no matter how tired I am. And it's all because of these podcasts. Thanks alot Will. It's all your fault.
As a matter of fact it's everyone elses fault but mine.

I really don't know why, but for the last like 10 podcast my attention has pretty much wandered elsewhere. Hell, I'm not even finishing the podcast at this point anymore. I don't know why, but I just feel as if there is so much rambling going on, it's just fallen on deaf ears. I don't know... Heh. I use to listen to the podcast each and everytime with enthusiasm, but something really has changed about the way you guy's are presenting it. Maybe not and I'm the one going nuts here, but I feel like somehow the podcast just doesn't feel the same anymore as of late. Oh, and that's not to say I'm upset with you guy's laughing at a deer dying. Hell, I found that even funny, even as I type. Maybe someone on here can understand what I mean about this. o.0

The early podcasts were a lot more interesting than the new ones. They had the copyright thing with Murphy, audio files that I could count on hearing in every podcast (I'm looking at you, news intro), and regular contests (Dream Date with Murphy). Now its just news, lab, questions, rant. Oh, and the rants aren't as angry or random as they used to be. The new podcasts just seem to formal. Oh, and did you see that iTunes has the podcast marked as "explicit" now. LOL.

Re. IT Department. You've got a choice between having your magazine writers fixing problems for the company and missing their deadlines vs. them making their deadlines and having the misc baby problems dealt with by a dedicated IT staff. You make the call...
