No BS Podcast #88a: The We've Got Zombie Fever Edition
Zombie Fever rages on at Maximum PC. We put aside our constant discussion of Left4Dead to answer reader questions. Little did we know, but the question queue had been invaded by... you guessed it -- Zombies. Honest folks, we tried to get back to talking about tech, but about 75% of the questions in the queue were undead-related. So, we pulled out our auto-shottys, loaded our akimbo pistols, and settled down to answer a whole boatload of reader questions about the upcoming zombie apocalypse, and give a little upgrading advice along the way. Join the podcast gang as we answer your tech questions, take a trip to the Lab, and get another dose of Gordon Mah Ung's Rant of the Week!
Do you have a tech question? A comment? A tale of technological triumph? Just need to get something off your chest? A secret to share? Email us at maximumpcpodcast@gmail.com or call our 24-hour No BS Podcast hotline at 877.404.1337 x1337--operators are standing by. For the love of all that's holy people, if you guys don't start asking tech questions, we're going to change the name to the Nothing But Undead podcast...

In Left4Dead, I have to admit. Just once, I'd like to be able to have a vote for "Least likely to survive a zombie apocalypse".
I agree with Gordon, playing in pick up groups, you learn fast who would get you zombified in a zombie apocalypse.

Hey, shameless plug for a friend here, but you can get a really fun zombie stick-figure swag, at the link below. I wouldn't have spammed, but he put it up totally by coincidence, and says that shirt is actually selling better than any of his new releases. Oh, and check out his comic too.

PS, if this post is inappropriate, I understand and won't be offended if it's removed.

Why cannot you ever get the links correct. I never get to the podcast before 5:00PM, and by then you always seem to fix it, but it seems in the comments section of every podcast there are people bitching about incorrect links. Is it really that hard? And more importantly: Why is it called Episode 88a. Is there going to be an 88b?

88a replaces the bad 88. It's probably an 88a because that way it will update correctly on iTunes, etc.

Perhaps rather than 88a it should be called the Crazy 88.... Cool....

Shaq came to visit the airbase in Germany where I was stationed back in the late 90's and i can confirm he does not look cuddly in person. I was going to ask for an autograph but decided it wasn't worth the risk.

now the link is screwed up in Itunes. It actually has the 87 edition thinking it is the 88th. I know I can simply load the link and save it to my desktop then drag it in to Itunes or whatever. To me it is like those damn MS Vista cases, you know the disk is just on the other side of that shinny plastic surface but getting the damn case open just about kills ya!
Now here's one for Gordon, how do you re-intiate a podcast download once it has been downloaded? The only way I have found so far is to delete the Podcast subscription and re-add it. No biggy right? Well, I like to keep the old issues around as reference or even to go back and listen to them sometimes but each time I delete the subscription, I have to re-download all those others as well!

Huh, I guess even the web guys at Maximum PC mess things up big once in a while. At least their audience is smart enough to figure out a work around in like 2 seconds.

The RSS for the podcast ( http://feeds.feedburner.com/maximumpc/1337 ) points to the november episode as well so it's not iTunes fault.
I enjoyed re-listening to episode 87 though :)

Create a text document. Copy and paste code below:
<html>
<head>
<title>Untitled</title>
</head>
<a href="http://dl.maximumpc.com/maxpc_088_20081204.mp3">maxpc</a>
</body>
</html>save it and rename the extention from .txt to .htm
now you can double click it and it will open in your browser where you can do the right-click "save as" to download.
(and congrats, you just mada a web page).

There seems to be a problem with the podcast download link, when you press "Zombie fever" it gives a strange "outlook web access" window. And when you press on 'podcast gang' it gives the old 87 episode (yeah, i downloaded that one, and then went jogging... imagine my surprise >.<)
Anyhow, the real url is this http://dl.maximumpc.com/maxpc_088_20081204.mp3 if someone wants to download it.

again! The links all point to episode 87 not 88... PLs fix linkage!
EDIT: I stand corrected, the link downloaded the right podcast over my copy of #87. The only one that seems to be correct is the feed from Itunes - wait, Gordon, does this mean apple is doing something right?
